Employee of the Year

Robert BeckerRobert (Rob) Becker, Patriot Elementary

Robert has been employed by the District for 18 months, yet his influence has exceeded expectations in the schools he has served.  The nominating committee shared that he has taken on countless projects that promote education and a sense of community in the school.  Rob started a Dad’s Club, serves as a mentor, and develops activities that enhance the social and academic expectations of students.

Rob’s work with students in the Literacy Lab and Media Center has had an immediate impact on students’ outlook about Reading.  “Reading is a lot of fun now that Mr. Rob reads with me.”  As Rob will tell you, these are his kids, his teachers, his school, and his community and he wants it to be the best!  He was responsible for putting together a Veteran’s Day celebration and the creation of a Courtyard of Flags honoring military personnel affiliated with Patriot Elementary staff and students.

According to Chad Lyons, Art Teacher, “In my 40 years of teaching, I have never seen a building supervisor like Rob who exemplifies a person who truly loves his job, loves his students and incorporates the community into all aspects of education.”

The District congratulates Robert Becker on this accomplishment.  He will represent Lee County in the Florida School-Related Employee of the Year Program sponsored by the Department of Education.  The program honors one state representative and four finalists who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in the performance of their jobs, thereby earning them the respect and admiration of students, teachers, administrators, coworkers and parents.
